The WECEP students are still hard at work organizing, filing, and repairing Chromebooks.  The WECEP students have also added a few more responsibilities to their roles in the Chromebook Repair Classroom (CSI); they have become experts in using the engraving machines which allows them to  engrave a multitude of materials as well as participating in a newly created website www.google.com/a/galesburg205.org/ghsninjas created by Mr. Gross.  The Google Ninja Academy.  Students go through different areas of Google before taking their test to earn their belts.  Tests become progressively difficult as they move from white belts to green, black and finally to a master belt.  With their new knowledge of Google, they are able to assist any teacher or student with any questions they have about Google.  The vision is to have a student led in-service session with teachers after the groups achieve their master belts to help them become more affluent in all aspects that Google can offer.

The Health Occupation students have begun the clinical portion of the class.  Everyday the students go to Seminary Manor for class caring for the residents at the facility.  The students are applying everything they learned during the class portion of Health Occupations.  Before starting clinicals the students showed competency in handwashing, applying and taking off personal protective equipment, taking a height and weight, ambulating a person with a gait belt, taking temperature, pulse, and respiration, and making an occupied bed.  So far at clinical, the students have shown their competency in taking a blood pressure, giving a partial bath, providing perineal care, and performing range of motion on a resident. The students have been nervous as expected with working around residents, but they are also learning how to appropriately communicate with the residents.  They are also gaining experience on that each resident has their own personalities, and what not do as a certified nursing assistant.  The next skills to perform on residents are shaving, nail care, and giving a shower.

The Law Enforcement class has been busy during the past couple of weeks.  Investigators Legate and Investigator Kisler of the Galesburg Police Department recently visited the classroom to show a power point demonstrate regarding the effects drugs have on the body and just how dangerous these drugs can be.  Students also had a chance to visit the Knox County Jail on a recent field trip.  Students were given the chance to view the communication center, tour the booking rooms, a holding cell and kitchen area.

The Early Childhood Education I, class students have completed their first lesson on reading a storybook with props to a small group.  Students have observed the children, write a lesson plan, complete their lessons with the children and self-evaluate. Students are now preparing to complete their second lesson on teaching a song to their students.  The Early Child Care II class has students placed in the Galesburg School Child Care Center and Willimasfield Elementary School.  Both Tiara and Katelynn are gaining hands-on experience during their experience.

The Automotive I, students recently took a field trip to Galesburg Municipal Airport and toured the facility.  Mr. Harold Timmons met with students and explained the requirements that are necessary to become a pilot and aviation technician.  He stressed the importance of continuing their education to be successful.  Students were also shown several different types of planes from Stermen to late model jets and explained the electronic technology necessary to prevent planes from freezing up when flying at high altitudes.  Students were also able to view technicians working on various different projects.
