We hope everyone is well and you are ready for the 2020-2021 school year! We are preparing for your return. The Galesburg Area Vocational Center is scheduled to be back in-session using a remote learning plan starting Tuesday, September 8th. We are also attempting to stay up-to-date on the research and recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Governor Pritzker, Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), Knox County Public Health Department, and other sources.
Our Return-to-Learn plan will be posted on our GAVC website. However, we will update the Return-to-Learn plan as needed. Please stay-tuned for updates! While we recognize the critical need for our students to return to learning in the fall, our greatest priority is the health and safety of our students and staff. For these reasons, we have determined that for the first five weeks of school a fully virtual E-Learning format for our Return to Learn is the best course of action at this time. The GAVC staff will be communicating with our students through e-mail, Zoom, and Google Classroom (G Suite). The Remote Learning plan will feature live streaming and recorded instruction. Students will be expected to sign-in daily for attendance and complete all assignments as if they were in-person. All assignments and assessments will be graded during the 2020-2021, school year. After the first five weeks, the district will evaluate the status of our learning format and make changes in a timely manner as circumstances change.
Our GAVC staff have been preparing for in-person, remote, and blended learning. We have to be prepared for all forms of learning and be ready to transition from one plan to another seamlessly as we cannot predict our future with this virus.
