The fourth annual Carl Sandburg College Welding Competition was held on Friday, March 27, at the Center for Manufacturing Excellence. Knoxville High School took home the top honor as a team and also claimed two of the top three individual awards. Jagger Johnson and Ryan Brown of KHS finished first and third and Cody Park of Galesburg High School took second. KHS scored 617 points to beat out second place GHS which totaled 580 points. Abingdon-Avon scored 575 for third place followed by ROWVA Black 518, Cuba 437, and ROWVA Gold 423. As the champions KHS won a Lincoln 180 welder. Each of the top three individual finishers and the written portion winners received a Lincoln welding helmet with automatic darkening lens. Great Job!!
