This is a course of instruction in basic emergency medical services. Students will learn patient assessment, stabilization and pre-hospital medical treatment of injured and ill patients. This course includes classroom instruction, practical demonstrations, testing and clinical experiences. This course will prepare students to take the licensure examination of the Illinois Department of Public Health to become an EMT-B. Students must have a high school diploma and be 18 years of age to attempt the state licensing test. This course is offered terms 2, 3 & 4.
